Swarm robotics is the study of designing group of robots that operate without relying on any external infrastructure or on any form of centralized control. In a robot swarm, the collective behaviour of the robots results from local interactions among themselves and the environment in which they act upon. The swarm behaviour involves constant change of individuals in cooperation with others, as well as the behaviour of the whole group.
